Revised on November 11, 2020.
Today is Saturday, November 7, 2020. It’s a little after 10:30pm Pacific Time.
It’s an historic day in the United States, and I wanted to take a few moments to commemorate it so that I can always remember it.
This article contains tidbits of what happened today that I would like to recall in addition to a few photographs I captured.
I suppose this is part of the purpose of an actual blog. (Imagine that).
When I woke up this morning, I went online to mentally prepare myself to digest the latest developments of the U.S. national election. What awaited me on the front page of The Washington Post completely caught me off guard because I had determined that today would be another day of waiting for five different states to determine the future of the nation — and, inadvertently, the world — for the next four years. Alas, the excruciatingly interminable and painful wait was apparently over as I read:

Alas, Biden’s victory also meant:

The trajectory of the day and my perspective towards reality had completely changed in the course of a few minutes.
That morning, I spoke with my closest friend and his partner at length about what had just happened. I also thanked them for sharing their own perspective of what had transpired over the last four years as they live in Canada and could offer an alternative point of view regarding American political events. To be clear, they had been offering me fresh perspectives since this month back in 2016. I found their outlooks valuable because they often steered me away from thinking the absolute worst about so many different things, which proved to be beneficial for my own mental state.
After speaking with them, I visited my Twitter account to see what my friends and contacts, based nationwide and worldwide, were saying and sharing.
I recall laughing a lot and tearing up a few times as well. Like previous election results, it was not unusual to witness emotions riding extremely high or low. However, this year, under these particular circumstances, it did feel quite different. Below are some of the postings from Twitter that I would like to note so I can remember them in the future.

Word of the day has to be ‘suspire’: to (finally) breathe out.

Feels right to start playing “Brand New Day” from “The Wiz” (1978) once again because…well, have a look and listen.
It’s the celebration that takes place after the Wicked Witch of the West is purged.

I’ve refused to listen to this song (a favorite for my workouts) since January 20, 2017 for obvious reasons.
I can start playing it again with a sense of relief.

To commemorate the occasion personally, here are three images that I captured as I drove around Seattle this afternoon and evening. We had some fascinating light today and an indelible sunset that bordered on being “epic” (a word I rarely use because its usage has been so incessantly abused over time).

Lastly, but never the least, one of the most memorable lines from Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris’ victory speech in Wilmington, Delaware this evening:
“While I may be the first woman in this office, I will not be the last—because every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities.“

Thanks my friend! More brand new days to come over the next year, I imagine.
