"Treading the Temper of a Tempest" - ⛈ - Enjoy a riveting scene of an oncoming duel between City and Nature. This is my favorite cityscape of Seattle thus far in 2019. I enjoy visualizing the potential clash of inclement weather upon what appears to be the invincible, towering structures of a major city. "New Day, New York" - Enjoy this early morning view of the Lower Manhattan skyline, taken shortly before sunrise at Exchange Place in Jersey City, New Jersey. Some of the best views of Lower Manhattan and Midtown Manhattan can be enjoyed from New Jersey. It is certainly worth the commute. I used to live only five blocks away from this spot. While watching the boats sail up and down along the Hudson River in the late evenings, with few people around, I always found the waterfront at Exchange Place to be a calm haven of reflective introspection. It is one of my favorite spots in the NYC metropolitan area. The statue is the Katyn Memorial, in observation of the horrendous massacre of Polish citizens that took place in Russia during World War II. On the front side of the memorial, there is also a rectangular plaque observing the devastating loss of life that took place on September 11, 2001. One humorous note: Before cell phones took over the populace, it was considered “long distance” to call NYC from Jersey City. "Brooklyn Rising" - I would be beyond remiss if I continued to present cityscapes of NYC and exclude Brooklyn. Yes! Believe it or not, though Manhattan is the most renowned borough of America's largest city, Brooklyn has the largest population out of the five boroughs. That means the majority of New Yorkers live in BROOKLYN! As a result, I must share this significant part of the city with you. - 📸 Due to several revisions in Brooklyn's zoning regulations for construction in the past two decades, skyscrapers have risen exponentially in downtown Brooklyn, giving the neighborhood its own unique skyline across the East River from Lower Manhattan (the same applies to Long Island City in Queens)...and it continues to rise! 🗽"Forever NYC" 🗽 - 📸 Enjoy a view of the Downtown NYC (Lower Manhattan) skyline and Brooklyn Bridge as seen from the Manhattan Bridge over the East River at twilight. (It was soooooo frigid the night this was captured. Given the bridge's design, it's difficult to position a tripod -- or to use it at all -- to obtain the shot as you need to be strategic or clever in where your camera will rest as subway trains and endless traffic traverse, causing the bridge railings on the pedestrian walkway to vibrate ad nauseam. "Me, Myself & I..." - 📸 For the second time since I opened this account four years ago, I am sharing a photo of the photographer who created the images you've seen here. It's the first time that it's not for political purposes. I am not a triplet. This is just a composite of three portraits illustrating three different sides of my personality.There are several others, but I am constrained by dimensions, time, and my own patience. I'm sharing this because I have been advised numerous times that it's important for people and potential clients to get an idea of the person and personality who creates these photographs, especially as I strive to do this full-time as an entrepreneur after nearly a decade...so here I am. Some trivia about me: 1) I have never liked social media, but I appreciate the good it has done for people who either feel isolated or are living in circumstances that I cannot fathom. 2) The name of my photography business is not pronounced "tia" (which is Spanish for "aunt" 😁). It's the letters "T-I-A" which are the initials of my name. 3) I went to high school in Europe...Stavanger, Norway to be precise. Living there changed my entire view of the world and my appreciation of multiculturalism. It led me to earn Bachelor's and Master's degrees in International Affairs and Foreign Policy back in the States. 4) I share a birthday with the 45th President of the United States. One family member remarked that this unfortunate coincidence is "empirical evidence that astrology and horoscopes are completely meaningless." - 🤗 5) My parents never raised me to hate, resent, or fear people of different races, ethnicities, religions, or orientation. As a result, I have no sympathy or comprehension for people who espouse any form of racism, xenophobia, misogyny, homophobia, or fascism. These are the things that darken my perspective about people, and I challenge myself daily to stay positive because there are plenty of good people who don't practice these things. - 🤗 6) Janet Jackson is my favorite singer and entertainer of all-time. - 📸 I could go on, but that's more than enough.
